Meet The Cuttlefish

By December 30, 2010 September 17th, 2011 Ocean News

A post from the Southern Fried Scientist (Andrew Thaler) about the cuttlefish. These are remarkable mollusks that are able to camouflage to avoid predators. I spotted about a dozen of these when I went diving in Port Antonio, Jamaica. They formed a straight line spanning about 20 feet looking right at me while changing color to blend in to the water background. they changed color every time the light changed from the surface due to a cloud passing under the sun. It was a spectacular sight that I will never forget.
