Terry Lilley enjoys diving with Sharks at night in Hawai’i. Why? Because he feels a connection with them. There are normally two white tip sharks in the area, but a couple of days ago Terry found a pleasant and interesting scenario. Check it out:
Ever sat in a cave at 40 feet deep with 12 big sharks? I hadn’t done it either, until today! Most people think I’m crazy diving with sharks in the middle of the night, which is when I usually hang out with them, but it seemed even crazy to me during the day today.
The plan was to conduct my normal monthly dive at Tunnels to check out the health of the corals – as well as to video the only black coral I know of at Tunnels, deep in a lava tube. When I got to the cave there were six white tip reef sharks laying outside the cave. This was odd as I usually see just two, both whom I know well. Once I went into the cave I was blown away; the whole cave was filled with sharks! I counted 12 and took some video with my dive buddy Gregg. He’s the only one who will go on these sharks dives with me and he knows every cave at Tunnels.
